Looking at the example below, in 2008 Group A submitted the first page and references. In 2009 we see Group B submit similar content. While the section heading was given to the students, it is highly unlikely that the content and structure would be so similar by chance. I looked up the references from the submission in 2008 to see if both sets of students might have got their ideas from the same place. I was unable to access the first reference, so it is possible that is the problem.

In any case, the students in Group B should have acknowledged the source. It would have been more scholarly and useful if the students in Group A had identified where each reference was used, either by using a citation style such as Harvard i.e. ADTRAN (2002) or [1].  Footnotes/endnotes would have been another alternative to identify the source.
