The StockReporter text generation system is an example of a dynamic document generation application: given a body of underlying data about stock prices, StockReporter generates tailored reports on demand. This is more than just a conventional dynamic content delivery system: in StockReporter, the actual linguistic content of the reports generated depends on the underlying data, and is determined dynamically at run-time. The demonstration application here generates textual reports, in conjunction with graphs; but the same technology can be used to automatically produce spoken language output.
This demo generates historical reports for user-specified time periods, for any of 100 different stocks. The chosen stock's performance can be compared with either the Dow Jones Index or the NASDAQ.
The use of natural language generation technology means that the same architecture can easily generate reports in different languages. Try out StockReporter in any of the following following languages:
