Faculty of Science
CSIRO/FoS Scholarships
Scholarships are available for PhD project topics of common interest to the CSIRO and the Faculty of Science. Although these scholarships are primarily targeted for domestic students, in special circumstances applications from international students will be considered in research areas where there is a national shortage (as determined by CSIRO).
This recent offering comprises several top-up scholarships (to a base University or Government scholarship). Each top-up scholarship will be between $7,000 and $12,000 based on the applicant's qualifications and suitability for project area. A based scholarship may be awarded to applicants of exceptional promise.
The above scholarships are available to successful scholarship applicants with excellent academic standing and are subject to CSIRO approval.
Check here for a list of possible projects. The range of projects is not limited to those in the linked document. Other project topics could be considered, but must be of common interest to the CSIRO and the Faculty of Science and would also be dependent on the availability of supervision in the CSIRO and Macquarie University. If you wish to propose a different topic, please include a project description with your enquiry.
To apply, contact Faculty of Science's HDR Team. Documents required for an application are as follows:
- Candidate's CV
- evidence that the candidate is a current higher degree research student, or that the candidate has an official letter of offer of a place (also indicate any university/government scholarships offered)
- project title and description
- whether it is a core, or non-core topic
- a brief statement of support from the MQ supervisor
- a brief statement of support from the CSIRO supervisor (if there is no CSIRO supervisor, then the candidate or MQ supervisor should endeavour to make contact with one, or else state that they don't have one yet, but would like to find one.)
