Science-ID
Your Science-ID is the username and password you use to authenticate to IT resources within the Faculty of Science. These include:
- Desktops Computers
- Fileservers
- Science E-mail
- Webmail
- VPN services
- Equipment Bookings
- Password protected Intranet
- Unix systems
- MQ and Eduroam Wireless Networks
Science-ID Username Format
Your Science-ID username is usually your first initial followed by surname. For example if your name is John Smith then your Science-ID will be jsmith. Other format usenames are available upon request on as required basis. Your initial password will be computer generated.
Obtaining a Science-ID
Your Science-ID is created when you join the Faculty or by having an Account Request form submitted by an existing user on your behalf, typically your supervisor or Departmental administrator.
If you are an undergraduate student requiring a Science-ID, it will be created automatically from enrollment details. See student accounts.
Checking your Science-ID
Login to http://www.science.mq.edu.au/test/. If your SCIENCE-ID is valid, a message will be displayed. If not, you will receive a "forbidden" message.
Changing your Science-ID Password
Visit http://support.science.mq.edu.au/ics/password.asp. Please see information on choosing secure passwords.
Requesting your Science-ID Initial Password
Visit https://support.science.mq.edu.au/anon/email.asp. This will provide you with your initial password, however this may not be your current password if you have changed it.

Science-ID Guest Account
Any Faculty staff with a valid Science-ID can create temporary Science-ID-guest accounts. These accounts have limited access into the Science systems and NO associated email address. Visit https://support.science.mq.edu.au/Staff/guest.asp to create a guest account with an expiry date.
