Duties for the Student Service Officer positions include coordinating with the Science Centre Casual Staff to carry out day to day Science Centre operations including Waivers, Special Consideration, Assignment Collection and Management, Application processing, Withdrawal processing, Special Exam Provisions, More than 14cp applications, Exemptions Processing, Semester Results Management, Supplementary Exams, Grade Appeal Management, FSQC & LTC Support, General Enquiries, Managing Students at Risk, Room Bookings, Scholarships and Prizes Management, providing support to the Faculty marketing staff.

Template for a new student enquiry

Step 1 - Find out if they are local or international student, and if they want to do coursework or research

Step 2 - Find out what level of degree is appropriate for them

  • Those who have just finished Year 12 would be suited to a Bachelors Degree Program.
  • Those who have just completed thier degree would be suited to a Postgraduate or Graduate Coursework Program
  • Those who have are non-current school leavers with no prior tertiary study will be suited to either a:
    • A Bachelors degree program, or;
    • Depending on work experience and field of interest, may also be eligible for some Postgraduate or Graduate Coursework program.

Step 1 - Give the student assistance in navigating the enrolment process

 Step 2 - Give the the student assistance when they run into trouble during the enrolment process

  • The most common problems during the enrolment process for students are:
  • eStudent related issues including:
    • The wrong program is reflected on eStudent
    • The units they should be able to enrol are not available to enrol into on the system
    • Thier exemptions/waiver is not reflected
  • If the query relates to exemptions/waivers etc, do some investigation before forwarding the query to eStudent support
  • All eStudent support enquiries should be directed to:
    •  'My Home and Help' tab on eStudent complete an email query form
    • 1800 67 4357 (1800 MQ HELP) option 3
    • During the 2010 Semester 1 Enrolment period in person advice can be sought in E4B 214 (Mon-Fri, 9am -5pm)
