Hopf algebras and combinatorics

This talk was based on material from Chapter 5 of Shahn Majid's book Foundations of quantum group theory. Combinatorial interperetations were given to the comultiplication of some well-known Hopf algebras and bialgebras, and some very tentative speculations made on relations with quantum physics.
