Peter Browne obtained his BSc (Hons) degree in Physics from the Australian National University in 1969 and his PhD from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland) in 1974. Since 1979 he has been with the Physics Dept at Macquarie University. He has taught units from general first-year to Honours nonlinear optics and general relativity, and was responsible for developing teaching laboratories at second and third year level, in particular the laboratories for the Bachelor of Technology (Optoelectronics) degree program. Now, with over 30 years experience in the area of lasers and optics, his research interests lie in the area of infrared lasers and nonlinear optics.
