Ashkbiz Danehkar obtained an MSc (Distinction) in Plasma Physics from the Queen's University Belfast in 2009 and an MSc (Merit) in Computational Engineering from the University of Rostock in 2007. In 2010, he was awarded an international Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES) to undertake his PhD research with Prof. Quentin Parker. His research has been focused on double-degenerate central stars of planetary nebulae in connection with Type Ia supernova progenitors, including plasma diagnostics and photoionization modeling. Prior to taking up this position in April 2010, he held a studentship from the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) in Northern Ireland for his postgraduate research in the Centre for Plasma Physics of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the Queen's University Belfast and a Marie-Curie action (FP6) fellowship for an early-stage research in theoretical and mathematical physics at the University of Craiova. | |||||||||||||
